ESCAMBIA COUNTY APPROVES 'GULF OF AMERICA' NAME AFTER CONTROVERSIAL VOTE

A controversial vote to accept the new 'Gulf of America' name at a county level was passed last week. The discussion included a lot of public comment from folks for the change, and against it. Commission Chair Mike Kohler said it was mostly an administrative change in accordance a recent executive order from the Governor. In the end it passed, with Commissioners Lumon May and Steven Barry voting against it.
