ESCAMBIA ADMINISTRATOR WEIGHS IN ON EMS CONTROVERSY

Escambia County Administrator Wes Moreno is weighing in on the controversy surrounding EMS employees. Earlier this week, IAEP Local 325 sent a letter to Escambia County Commissioners, saying a toxic work culture led to a 99% vote of no confidence in EMS Chief David Torsell and Deputy Chief Christopher Stephens. Moreno says that number is misleading. Moreno also disputes the claim that 100 employees have voluntarily resigned in the last two years, saying the number is closer to 50, but some of those have been due to disciplinary reasons. Moreno says there are things they can improve, but Torsell has worked to change the culture and improve EMS and EMT pay.
