Mobile, AL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Work on dismantling the historic SS United States has begun in Mobile. The ship's forward funnel has been removed and crews are moving on to the crow's nest. The pieces will be preserved, and the SS United States Conservancy is hoping to incorporate those removed pieces into a museum. Once the ship is prepared, it will be sunk off the Destin coast and become the world's largest artificial reef.
