(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida is trying to be a hub for futuristic air travel. Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill yesterday allowing FDOT to help pay for vertiports. A vertiport is where aircraft take off vertically to carry passengers to different cities. The goal is to make travel between major cities faster and reduce street-level traffic. Gotha Democratic State Rep. Leonard Spencer sponsored the bill. He has said this is about positioning Florida not just for today's transportation needs but for tomorrow's economy.
