DeSantis Calls For Ban On First Cousin Marriages

He was talking about a law he wants to change that allows first cousins to marry. DeSantis says a lot of states already ban marriage between first cousins, but a bill to ban the practice failed to pass the state senate last month. The other 15 states that allow first cousins to marry include California and New York. DeSantis says first cousin marriages are linked to cultures that are antithetical to American values.
