NEW WORLD LANDING TO BE DEMOLISHED -- HILTON NOT APPROVED YET
Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- It appears that the downtown "New World Landing" building on Palafox has seen its last days -- it's demolition has been approved by the architectural review board... however the nine-story hotel that was hoping to take its place has not yet been approved.
According to the PNJ, 3H Hotels out of Tennessee wants to build a Hilton-branded hotel that would include a bar and restaurant, rooftop pool and bar, and retail space. The board reportedly believed the hotel wouldn't match "the existing character" of South Palafox Street.
Developers will have to redesign the building and go back to the board to get the hotel approved before their plans can move forward.
