Escambia County has approved a 90 thousand dollar settlement with a former paramedic who was part of the 2019 training document scandal. The settlement with former EMS Head of Administration Katherine Kenney was approved at last Thursday's meeting. Her termination from the county will also be changed to a resignation in her personnel file. Kenney had been fired in 2020 after being one of four EMS members arrested and charged in the case. The arrests stemmed from an investigation that began after former County Medical Director Dr. Rayme Edler filed a complaint with the state Department of Health alleging the county was overbilling Medicare. Kenney's felony charges were dismissed and her remaining charges were dropped as part of a pre-trial diversion program.
