Cost Jumps for Pensacola Beach Gateway Project

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Escambia County is moving foward with plans to revamp the Pensacola Beach gateway, with costs jumping from an initial $707-thousand to $1.6 million for a new architectural design featuring a sailfish fin. The total project is estimated to cost between $6.3 million and $7.5 million, including roadway improvements and landscaping. Despite calls for public input, the requirement for community meetings was dropped to expedite the project.
