Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Dozens of Escambia County residents are supporting a proposed ordinance that would preserve Navy Point Park as a public green space. The ordinance will be voted on by the county commissioners this week. It would prohibit any future construction, including docks and piers, and ensure that the park remains under county stewardship. Commissioner Mike Kohler says he received over 30 emails advocating for protections for the park. The ordinance would stipulate that it can only be repealed by a unanimous vote of the commissioners. The Escambia County Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday and will discuss the ordinance.
