Century Correctional Inmate Assaults Officer, No Injuries Reported

A correctional officer at Century Correctional Institution was assaulted by an inmate this week, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. Inmate Dwayne A. Collins grabbed the officer during the incident, but no staff members were injured in the altercation.

Collins is serving a 30-year sentence for a 2013 homicide conviction out of Highlands County. The circumstances surrounding the assault and any disciplinary action against the inmate have not been detailed by the FDC.

Century Correctional Institution, located in North Escambia County, houses adult male inmates and is part of Florida's state prison system.
