Cantonment Man Sentenced for Child Abuse, Road Rage Incident

A Cantonment man has been sentenced following an April 2026 incident that endangered a child, according to North Escambia reporting.

Colton David Gideons, 27, pleaded no contest to charges of child abuse without great bodily harm, simple assault with domestic violence enhancement, and reckless driving. Authorities say Gideons threatened a woman and forced her vehicle off the road while a child was inside the car.

The sentencing follows the incidents detailed in the initial investigation. Court records indicate Gideons' actions put the child at risk during the confrontation on the roadway.
