CANTONMENT MAN CONVICTED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF ACTIVIST

A Cantonment man will be sentenced this summer for the fatal shooting of a local activist two years ago. The State Attorney's Office says Charles Moore III was found guilty of 2nd-degree Murder in the death of Durrell Palmer. Back on May 23rd of 2022, the two men were engaged in an argument on social media and that led to a confrontation at a Circle K gas station. According to prosecutors, after five minutes of arguing, Moore pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Palmer four times in the torso. Palmer was involved in many activism projects over the years, perhaps most notably a Black Lives Matter mural that was painted on A Street in the aftermath of George Floyd's death. Moore faces up to life in prison when he's sentenced on July 11th.
