Cantonment Contractor Sentenced to 30 Years for Racketeering, Fraud

A Cantonment-based contractor was handed a 30-year prison sentence Monday after being convicted on serious fraud and racketeering charges. Chief Judge John Simon imposed the sentence on Jesse Wayne LaCoste, who was found guilty last week of racketeering and organized fraud exceeding $50,000.

LaCoste received 30 years on each count, with the sentences running concurrently, meaning he'll serve a total of 30 years rather than a combined 60. The case centered on allegations of systematic fraud and criminal enterprise activity in the North Escambia area.

The conviction marked the conclusion of what prosecutors described as an organized scheme involving substantial financial misconduct. Sentencing by Judge Simon came swiftly following the jury verdict, underscoring the severity prosecutors attached to the charges.
