Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The Blue Angels 'Fat Albert' is about to undergo some serious structural repairs. The iconic C-130 Hercules is returning to Marshall Aerospace's hangars in the U.K. for crucial maintenance that could extend its lifespan by over 20 years. The aircraft will undergo a complex centre wing box replacement -- akin to spinal surgery, due to the significant stress it endures during its demanding flight routine. Marshall Aerospace is recognized as a Centre of Excellence for C-130 wing box replacements. They also have a strong history of maintaining this particular aircraft, which originally served in the Royal Air Force before being acquired by the US Navy in 2019.
