(Tallahassee, FL) -- An effort to protect state parks from development is closer to becoming law. HB 209 passed a House committee in Tallahassee yesterday. The bill blocks developers from adding sports facilities and resorts in state parks. Stuart Republican John Snyder filed the bill after residents last year protested plans to add recreational facilities at state parks. Stuart's bill now goes to the full House for a vote. A similar bill is making its way through the state senate.
