Big Crowd Expected Tonight for Pensacola's Downtown Fireworks Show

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A big crowd is expected tonight for fireworks in downtown Pensacola. It's the largest fireworks show on the Gulf Coast and takes months to plan and coordinate. The show starts around 9 pm. For folks heading downtown this evening Bayfront Parkway will be closed off early this afternoon as preparations for the celebration begin.

"Bayfront is gonna be shut down... the usual place where the fireworks are. We're gonna shut that down early," says PPD's Mike Wood who advises folks to "pack their patience" as they head downtown.

He says it will likely be easier getting downtown than leaving later tonight, as everyone will be trying to leave at once. Officers will be stationed at major intersections downtown and lights will be synchronized to move traffic as quickly as possible.
