BIG FLAGPOLES ARE EXPENSIVE -- David Wayne
Santa Rosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The bids are in for the huge flagpole that could potentially hoist Florida's largest American flag in Santa Rosa County, and it looks like it will cost the county at least $300,000 if they decide to move forward. According to the PNJ, two companies responded to the county's RFP for a 207-foot flagpole, US Flag and Flagpole Supply, and The Flagpole Company. Both bids topped the $30,000 mark including installation and materials.
Commissioners have discussed using tourism tax dollars to cover the cost, however, it hasn't been determined whether a large flat could be considered a tourist attraction or not. The board of commissioners is expected to discuss the bids and whether to move forward at tomorrow's meeting.
