Attorney Claims Boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis Is Victim of Extortion

MIAMI — The attorney for professional boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis is pushing back against domestic violence charges, telling a Miami judge his client is being targeted for extortion.

Davis was arrested following accusations from his ex-girlfriend, who claims he attacked her at a strip club in October where she was working at the time. Prosecutors charged Davis with battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.

During a court hearing, defense attorney Simon Steckel argued Davis is not a flight risk and said the case has already caused significant financial harm to the boxer. Steckel claimed Davis has lost millions of dollars as a result of the allegations and legal proceedings.

A judge set Davis’ bond at 8,500 dollars and issued a stay-away order barring him from contacting the accuser. Davis was released after posting bond.

Prosecutors have not commented publicly on the defense’s extortion claims, but the case remains active as it moves through the court system. Davis, a high-profile professional fighter with multiple championship titles, has not entered a plea at this stage.

The charges stem from an alleged incident last fall, though details about what led up to the confrontation have not been released publicly. Court records show the case will return to court for future hearings as both sides continue preparing their arguments.
