Atmore Native Serves Aboard Nuclear Submarine USS Kentucky

Seaman Tyanthony Dailey, a 2023 graduate of Escambia County High School, is now serving aboard the USS Kentucky, an Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine that plays a critical role in America's nuclear deterrent strategy. Dailey, who grew up in Atmore, is among the sailors continuing the U.S. Navy's 126-year tradition of undersea operations.

The USS Kentucky is one of the Navy's most strategically important vessels, designed to patrol the world's oceans in relative secrecy as part of the nation's continuous at-sea deterrent. Submarine service is considered among the most demanding assignments in the military, requiring sailors to work in close quarters for extended periods while maintaining constant vigilance.

Dailey's assignment follows his recent graduation from high school in Escambia County, putting him among a select group of young service members who have chosen military careers immediately after finishing secondary education.
