A Pensacola development company wants to build a mixed-use neighborhood on Downtown's waterfront next to Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Dawson Company laid out their proposal yesterday (Monday) for the Community Maritime Park property.
The plans include a four-star hotel, a retail center and a 12-story apartment complex with a three-story parking structure. The developer would exceed height restrictions by committing 40 percent of the apartments to "affordable" rent. That would be calculated using the area's median income -- or AMI. The Dawson Company says if the project is approved, it would create 750 to 1,000 jobs in Downtown Pensacola.
