WOMAN CHARGED WITH ELDERLY EXPLOITATION — Steve Taylor
Okaloosa County, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — A 71-year-old woman is charged with elderly exploitation in Okaloosa County. Cheryl Rubin was arrested on Friday and remains in Okaloosa County Jail on a $50,000 bond. According to the report, Rubin was given banking and investment powers on the victim’s behalf. But on April 5, 2021, Rubin allegedly transferred $200,000 from the victim’s bank account into her Eglin Federal Credit Union account, a withdrawal the victim didn’t agree to. After being contacted by an Eglin Federal Credit Union Fraud Investigator, Rubin agreed to return $181,890 to the Victim’s account, but approximately $1,441 of the victim’s funds were unreturned and left in Rubin’s account. The report states Rubin used the money to buy various items such as furniture.
