UNDERGROUND FIRE CAUSES AIRPORT DELAYS — David Wayne
Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) — There were quite a few flight delays this morning at the Pensacola airport — that’s due to a runway light outage caused by an underground electrical fire.
“The power lines involved are 240-volt systems that are twenty-five years old,” says Airport Deputy Director Ken Ibold. He says it appears the power line shorted out and caused the electrical fire.
“Today the crews are going to continue their efforts to bring lights to runway 826 Taxiway Bravo. Which would enable us to provide airline service after dark today.”
Daylight flights aren’t affected, but if you’re scheduled to fly out after dark you should check online at flypensacola.com or reach out to your airline to make sure your flight is still on time.
