SALZMAN REQUESTS RESIGNATION FROM DR. TIM SMITH — Steve Taylor
Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92-3.) — Northwest Florida Congresswoman Michelle Salzman is asking Escambia County School District Superintendent Dr. Tim Smith for his resignation, something Smith says he is not going to give. Salzman sent a letter to the Escambia School Board yesterday asking Dr. Smith to resign with 90 days’ notice. Salzman listed several concerns in her letter to the board, including Warrington Middle School’s repeated failing grades, access to magnet schools for military students, discipline at schools in the district, school district workforce issues, and the health and well-being of the children. Dr. Smith responded to the letter with a statement saying he will not resign and that there is much difficult work to be done. He says he will stay the course and not lose focus on the students.
