Man Arrested After Deadly Shooting in Escambia County

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- An Escambia County man is in custody following a deadly shooting Sunday morning in Pensacola. Deputies say a 38-year-old woman was shot and killed near Gulf Breeze Avenue and Gulf Beach Highway. Authorities identified the suspect as 64-year-old James Pelzer, who was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Investigators say the shooting appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Pelzer is now being held in the Escambia County Jail on a homicide charge with no bond.
