Florida Primary Election Results: Moody, Donalds Lead Republican Races

Florida voters cast ballots Tuesday in the state's primary election, determining nominees for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Florida Governor, and numerous state races ahead of November's general election.

On the Republican side for governor, Byron Donalds secured a commanding lead with 798,921 votes, or 47.9 percent of the GOP primary vote. Jay Collins finished second with 419,013 votes representing 25.12 percent of the field.

Democrats rallied behind a unified ticket, with the David Jolly and Gwen Graham partnership capturing 746,788 votes, or 61.02 percent of the Democratic primary for governor. The tandem significantly outpaced rival Dayna Marie Foster, who received 184,550 votes.

In the U.S. Senate race, Republican Ashley Moody dominated her primary with a decisive victory, earning 1,296,258 votes for 79.57 percent of GOP voters. Her closest competitor, Chris Gleason, garnered only 223,758 votes.

On the Democratic side, Angie Nixon prevailed with 687,075 votes, representing 55.94 percent of the primary electorate. Alex Vindman came in second with 541,123 votes, or 44.06 percent.

In congressional races across Florida's districts, Republican Jimmy Patronis dominated District 1 with 61,918 votes, claiming 71.19 percent of that primary. In District 5, Republican John H. Rutherford secured victory with 52,977 votes for 67.7 percent of the Republican primary.

Democratic congressional nominee races saw various winners emerge across the state's districts, with candidates like Leela Gray capturing 65.14 percent of the District 13 Democratic primary.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. local time Tuesday, with results released shortly thereafter through the Associated Press. The primary elections set the stage for competitive general election matchups this November across multiple statewide and congressional races that will shape Florida's political landscape.
