Tallahassee, FL -- Florida is one step closer to making gold and silver coins legal tender. The Senate passed the measure Friday on a 31 to 1 vote, sending it to Governor DeSantis. The bill puts into state law rules for using the precious metal coins, which are set to become legal tender in Florida starting July 1st. The coins are exempt from sales tax under the legislation, and no one can be forced to use or accept them. The House passed the bill unanimously on Thursday.
