Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Work on Bay Bluffs Park's damaged boardwalk is finally set to begin. The city says it expects to finalize a contract with engineering firm HDR within the next two weeks for a detailed structural and geotechnical assessment, with that work starting around August 1st. City officials say the full assessment process should take about six months, with substantive construction work expected to begin in early 2027. The delay, according to the mayor's office, largely stemmed from a state funding restriction: though the city was awarded a 2.2 million dollar grant for the project roughly two years ago, it wasn't given permission to spend any of that money until April 21st of this year.
