OPERATION BROWNSVILLE YEILDS RESULTS — Steve Taylor

Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — Operation Brownsville is continuing with the focus on combatting gun violence there. Sheriff Simmons told NewsRadio that they’re not exactly advertising their plans. The sheriff’s office said in 2022, 59 guns were taken from unlocked vehicles, compared to just nine so far this year. Last year, 19 guns were stolen from locked vehicles. Just two have been reported this year. In cases where it’s unknown if the vehicles were locked, 23 guns were stolen in 2022 and just four so far in 2023. It all feeds into other crimes. County and state agencies plan on devoting resources to the area to continue to curb gun violence.
