MAN SHOT BY DEPUTIES HAD LONG RAP SHEET — Steve Taylor
Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — More information is coming to light about the man who was shot and killed by Escambia County deputies after a five-hour standoff on Sunday. Deputies say 53-year-old Ronnie Clark was shot and killed while trying to escape in a vehicle with a hostage. He’s been described by state prosecutors as a “career criminal” with 58 prior convictions — and he previously served an 18-year prison sentence. Sheriff Chip Simmons said yesterday that Clark had held a woman hostage for hours before trying to escape with a knife to her throat. Deputies shot and killed Clark, but the hostage may have also been hit by the same gunshot. FDLE is still investigating.
