MAN FIGHTS WITH DEPUTIES AFTER STEALING FROM CIRCLE K — Steve Taylor

A Circle K theft suspect was arrested early this morning after fighting with deputies at Circle K on Quietwater Beach Boulevard in Pensacola Beach. 40-year-old Gabriel Melvin is charged with larceny, battery on an officer, obstructing police, damaging property, and two counts of resisting arrest. An Escambia County deputy allegedly saw Melvin walking away from Circle K with a case of Miller Lite that an employee said he had just stolen. The deputy told him to stop and get on the ground, but he did not comply, instead, allegedly started fighting with the deputy, placing him in a headlock. Another deputy tried to help, but Melvin continued to resist, at one point grabbing for a deputy’s gun. A deputy tasered Melvin multiple times, then “delivered knee strikes” to Melvin’s waist before they were able to handcuff him. According to the report, Melvin stole two Red Bull drinks, a case of beer, and a few other food items. He’s now held in the Escambia County Jail on a $22,000 bond.
