MALCOLM YONGE GYM TO STAY CLOSED AFTER PRELIMINARY FINDINGS
The city of Pensacola is still waiting for the full structural report on the recently closed Malcolm Yonge Gym, but it’s safe to say it won’t be opening any time soon. Mayor D.C. Reeves says the gym has extensive rot and major structural damage. It was closed back on March 24th due to safety concerns. While the city owns the building, it was being leased to Lighthouse Christian Academy. There was hope that the preliminary findings might deem it safe for staff and students to go back, but that’s off the table now. The city expects the full report by the end of next week.
