If you were told your blurred, impaired vision was not correctible and permanent, what would you do? Where would you turn? Where would you go to learn how to use a cane or walking stick, cook safely in your own kitchen, organize your home, clothing, accessories, use an iPhone, iPad, computer, magnifiers, and much, much more? Where would you be able to connect with others dealing with similar situations? Independence for the Blind (IB).
Independence For The Blind of West Florida is the only agency in the Panhandle of Florida, from Escambia County to the Apalachicola River that can offer and provide services to teach you everything you need to know to live independently. The Older Blind, Adult Program, Vocational Rehabilitation, Teen Transition, and Children’s Programs provide needs assessments, counseling, orientation and mobility, and technology training at no cost to the client.
IB West serves hundreds of clients each year, but they cannot do this without your help. The Gala helps IB cover the costs for assistive technology that we provide for each student. It helps cover transportation costs, computer programs for instruction, and fleet equipment that needs replacing or repair. The Gala ensures the availability of quality programs and services. YOU can make the difference!
