Hundreds Of Damage Claims Rejected During Surfside Settlement

(Surfside, FL) — A Florida judge is shutting down damage claims for hundreds of people trying to take advantage of the deadly Surfside collapse. The Miami Herald reports more than 450 claims were rejected after the attorney processing them found them to be fake. The judge is deciding how much to give victims after reaching a more than one-billion-dollar settlement from the class-action lawsuit back in June. The agreement was made exactly one year after Champlain Towers South collapsed and took 98 lives.
