HANDCUFFED MAN BRIEFLY ON THE LAM, THEN RECAPTURED BY POLICE — Steve Taylor
The Pensacola Police Department says a suspect who was arrested on drug charges was able to briefly get away from police officers yesterday. He had been handcuffed and was being led to a transport car to be taken to the jail when 30-year-old Brandon Byrd decided to take off. Byrd was on the loose for about 10 minutes when officers caught up with him near the Pensacola Motor Lodge on Cervantes. He had apparently gotten tired while running and laid down to wait for officers.
