Gulf Breeze City Manager Sam Abell tells NewsRadio that the recent cyber attack on Pensacola has made the importance of strong resiliency more vivid to everyone else. Even prior to this attack, Gulf Breeze did have insurance in place, but they had also been actively training City employees and putting their training to the test. Their IT director has been actively probing employees, board members, and elected officials with emails that could be malicious to see how they respond. Those who click on links they shouldn’t click on get their faces posted internally on “most wanted” posters and given remedial instruction on cyber safety prior to having their digital privileges restored. Still others who click on the false attack links but DO NOT report the failure internally area also facing consequences in an effort to create a robust cybersafe culture in the City offices.
