FORT WALTON POLICE CHARGE PARENTS WITH CHILD ABUSE — David Wayne
Fort Walton Beach, FL (Newsradio 92.3) — Two young parents in Fort Walton Beach were arrested this week after police found their 2-year-old child alone in a filthy home. Channel 3 reports that police were called to the Fort Walton Beach home on Saturday. When officers arrived they saw the child through a window. The child was reportedly dirty and covered in flies. Police say there were no adults in the home — they made entry and called EMS to take care of the child. Police say the room the child was in had feces on the walls, piles of soiled diapers, and an extreme amount of insect activity. The child’s parents were arrested six hours later when they returned home from shopping. 21-year-olds Tyler Piringer and Diamond Atkinson are both charged with child neglect and aggravated child abuse. They’ve both been released from the Okaloosa County jail.
