FLORIDA LAWMAKERS ONE STEP CLOSER TO NIXING LOCAL HOUSING REGULATIONS
After passing the House today, the Senate is expected to vote Friday on a bill that would allow the state to trump local jurisdictions over landlord and tenant regulations. Bill supporters say the state needs a ‘free market’ approach to solve affordable housing and local regulations drive up costs. Opponents argue that state control would lead to reduced consumer protections and that local governments should be able to address their local housing issues.
