FLORIDA BILL TARGETS SEX OFFENDERS LICENSE PLATES
A bill that’s advancing in the Florida Legislature would require registered sex offenders to put a special license plate on their cars. An amendment filed by Democratic Senator Lauren Book would allow authorities to assign a fluorescent green license plate to vehicles that are operated by people convicted of child sex crimes. It would also require them to have the word “sexual predator” printed in red on their driver’s license. If the legislation becomes law, it would take effect on January 1st of 2024. Currently, Florida sex offenders are required to report a list of their personal information to their local sheriff’s office several times a year.
