ESCAMBIA SCHOOL DISTRICT GIVEN DEADLINE TO SIGN AGREEMENT — Steve Taylor

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — The Florida State Board of Education has given the Escambia County School District 48 hours to sign an agreement with charter schools USA regarding the future of Warrington Middle School. During a contentious meeting between the state board and Escambia County Superintendent Dr. Tim Smith, and school board Chairman Paul Fetsko, the state gave the district 48 hours to have an agreement, or they’ll withhold state funding in the amount of all school board members and the superintendents’ salary, and report the board to the state legislature. The Escambia County School Board meets tonight, Dr. Smith says he plans to add an agreement to the agenda and recommend approval — but wouldn’t say he was confident that it will be approved.
