ESCAMBIA DEPUTIES TAKE PART IN TORCH RUN — David Wayne
Escambia County deputies took part in the torch run yesterday….Sheriff Chip Simmons says the event benefits special olympians.
“The law enforcement torch run is where law enforcement officers throughout the state carry a torch, and the purpose is to raise money for the Special Olympics.”
The torch is carried all across the state by law enforcement officers. Yesterday it began at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and made its way to Santa Rosa County. Santa Rosa County deputies will carry the torch, and they’ll hand it off to deputies in Okaloosa County on Wednesday. Eventually, it’s handed to athletes with the Special Olympics for the opening ceremony of the state Special Olympic games.
