COUNTY MAKING PROGRESS ON INFILL AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM — Steve Taylor
The first three homes in Escambia County’s Infill affordable housing program are now under construction. The county has nearly 300 lots that have been returned to the county through non-payment of property taxes — they’re having modest homes built to sell at cost to qualified residents. County administrator Wes Moreno says he launched the program when he took over his position. He says the homes are all built with nice, but economical finishes and sizes. The county is still looking for a non-profit organization to partner with to vet potential buyers.
