COAST GUARD RESCUES CREW MEMBER 40 MILES OFFSHORE DESTIN — Steve Taylor

Destin, FL (NewsRadio 92-30 — The Coast Guard rescued a 39-year-old male crewmember approximately 40 miles offshore from Destin yesterday. The Coast Guard received a distress call at 11:15 am. from the motor vessel “No Pressure” stating a crewmember was suffering from heart attack-like symptoms. A Jayhawk helicopter crew and a Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat responded, while a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew diverted from a training mission to establish radio communication with the vessel. Emergency medical services personnel accompanying the boat crew arrived on the scene and recommended not hoisting the crewmember to the helicopter. The boat crew took the crewmember to shore and transferred him to an awaiting ambulance in Destin, and was reported to be in stable condition.
