CHARTER SCHOOL USA COUNTERS ECSD CONTRACT OFFER; STATE EDUCATION BOARD SETS EMERGENCY MEETING
Charter Schools USA has rejected the contract that was approved by the Escambia School Board last week, leaving the future of Warrington Middle School still up in the air. The Escambia School Board will review Charter USA’s counter-proposal Friday morning at 11:30, as they’re still at odds over the protection of low-performing students zoned for Warrington Middle School. It would appear that if the school board does not go along with the proposal, they will vote to close Warrington Middle, and the students would be re-zoned to Workman and Bailey Middle schools. State Education Commissioner Manny Diaz has called for an emergency conference call for next Tuesday, where he could start probable cause proceedings over the district’s inability to reach an agreement by the May 1st deadline.
