CHAIN REACTION CRASH CAUSED BY DRIVER STOPPING FOR TURTLE — Steve Taylor
Walton County, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — Deputies say a chain reaction crash this morning in Walton County was caused by a driver who stopped to let a turtle cross the highway. It happened on Highway 331 around 7 am. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office released a video showing a pickup truck stopped in the road for a turtle in the middle of the street. Deputies say that was a decision that caused a chain reaction affecting multiple vehicles including a large semi, which SURPRISE, does not exactly stop on a dime. No one, including the turtle was seriously injured, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies added the turtle survived and is now living “happily ever after in a pond where he will (hopefully) spend the rest of his days avoiding pavement of any kind.”
