BROWNSVILLE LOOKING FORWARD TO NEIGHBORHOOD’S FIRST LIBRARY
The effort to revitalize the Brownsville neighborhood is continuing with plans for the area’s first library. Escambia County Commissioner Lumon May tells Channel 3 that the library will be housed in the old Masonic Lodge on West DeSoto and Shoemaker Streets. He says the renovation project has been in the works for about 3 years and that it’ll cost about $2 million to complete. It’s not known exactly when construction will begin, but the plans for the library feature computer areas, meeting rooms, and a cafe.
