BP OIL MONEY PUMPS MILLIONS INTO OUR AREA — Steve Taylor

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) — 13 years ago, the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster flooded the Gulf with oil, damaging our coastal communities and ecosystems. Some projects already funded by the Triumph Gulf Coast Board include improving the Whiting Field Aviation Park and expanding Pensacola State College’s IT programs. Congress also created the Restore Act in 2012 for environmental projects. Santa Rosa County says they’ve received about $20 million of that money for projects like their wastewater treatment facility. Escambia County has received $100 million. The impacted counties have five more years to apply for Restore Act money.
