WAHOOS STADIUM GOING CASHLESS — David Wayne
Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) — There’s a change coming at the Blue Wahoos stadium this year — they’ll be going cashless.
The announcement was made last week and there’s been mixed reaction among the community. Some fear it could drive up costs with added credit card fees or turn away business from those who don’t believe in using credit cards.
Team management says it’s really about one thing…speeding up customer service in lines at the stadium.
“The big decision to go cashless was the speed of service, we’re able to get people through lines faster,” says Blue Wahoos President Jonathan Griffith. He tells Channel 3 that card transactions are also more secure than using cash.
The team says they still have an option for cash-using fans though… you can buy a gift card using cash at the team store, box office, or at the stadium bait and tackle shop. And that gift card can be used for concession purchases in the stadium.
